Alison started Splendid Soups and Such in August 2003, meaning that her business will have been going successfully now for two years.  She has 20 years experience as a cook and having gained acclaim for her skills decided to go out on her own.  She specialises in soups just that little bit different, such as Tomato & Stilton, as well as traditional favourites like her famous Lentil soup or her Tattie & Leek.  Along with soups she does a range of chutneys, puddings, dips and ready meals.  Ingredients are sourced locally, where possible, and all products are fresh, and therefore suitable for home freezing. As Alison makes all the products herself, she can assure that homemade tasting goodness just like your Grannie used to make.

Doherty’s Preserves, 18 Vivien Terrace, Edinburgh, EH4 5AN.
Tel: 0845 6445761 fraser@dohertyspreserves.co.uk
I started Doherty’s Preserves in December 2003, after being shown how to make my Gran’s well loved orange marmalade, aged fourteen. I began to sell marmalade, made to my Gran’s secret recipe, along with several other products that I had created myself, to family, friends and neighbours. Sales grew steadily over the following few months and I began to develop more unusual products which I now sell to the public at farmers’ markets. We have an ever-growing range of products all of which are free from artificial additives and GM. Please visit us this Sunday at Falkirk Farmers’ market where our product range will include the following delights:
Kiwi, Lime & Ginger Preserve, Fruits Of The Forest Preserve, Lemon Marmalade, Seville Orange Marmalade, Lemon & Lime Marmalade, Apple & Mango Chutney, Amish Tomato Chutney, Red Onion Chutney, Hummingbird Sweet Chilli Sauce, Kingfisher Cucumber & Pineapple Chilli Sauce and Flamingo Plum & Ginger Chilli Sauce.
